Garden Storage

Author: Administrator Category: Garden Storage

Avid gardeners have likely used many types of garden storage sheds, boxes and lockers. Garden boxes are functional, and they can also be quite useful for organizing your smaller garden tools. Sometimes known as deck seats or deck boxes, these can be used for sitting around the patio or deck, and can store smaller garden implements at the same time. You can also find fancy looking garden boxes now, made with aluminum, wood, plastic or fiberglass, and these are handy to use in your back yard, too.

If you're looking into purchasing a garden or deck box, it will help to store your smaller garden equipment so that it doesn't look cluttered in your yard. It can serve as additional storage space even if you already have a tool shed. You don't want to leave garden items lying around, or your children could hurt themselves. Garden sheds have room for plenty of tools, and the tools will be close at hand when you need them.

Garden boxes can store more than tools for gardening. You can store sports equipment in them, too. By supplementing your garden storage area with boxes, these can be moved around, to wherever in the yard you may need them. You can even order customized storage boxes for your garden equipment. Or you can make your own deck box. A stained wooden deck or garden box can look more like rustic lawn furniture than cleverly concealed storage space.

Garden boxes can be made from many different materials, and the one you select may depend largely on the area you live in, as far as weather is concerned. Make sure that any box you buy or build is waterproofed, to protect the items you will store inside. Aluminum, plastic and fiberglass are good options to choose. You can also buy boxes made from softwoods, or bamboo or rattan. These will make your yard more stylish than plastic boxes.

Aluminum is one good choice for garden boxes, since it is lightweight and easy to move. But you can't store metal tools in a box of this type, because it might cause corrosion. A plastic or wooden box will probably work better for metal tools. That way you won't have to be concerned about rust. Wood, plastic and fiberglass are workable alternatives. Fiberglass and plastic will likely be less expensive to purchase, too. Fiberglass can crack if you live in an area with extreme hot or cold weather.

You don't want your garage to degenerate into a dump for all your tools when they are not being used, so putting your tool shed in order will be a good step toward organization. If your shed is big enough, it will be able to hold your lawnmower, garden tools and wheelbarrow. That way they won't be cluttering up your garage. A small shed can take care of the overflow, and fit well into a small area of your yard.

Use organization skills to create garden storage that takes up the least amount of space, and looks the best in your yard.
